Chaga mushroom is a slow-growing fungus that typically grows on birch tree trunks in the Northern Hemisphere. This woody growth, or conk, looks like a clump of burnt charcoal but has a soft, rust-colored core. For centuries the people of Russia and Northern Europe have consumed chaga in teas and traditional medicines to boost immunity and overall health.
Rich in antioxidant polyphenols and polysaccharides like beta-glucans (soluble dietary fibers), chaga mushrooms also contain phytosterols, triterpenoids, flavans, betulin and betulinic acid, benzoic acid derivatives, melanins and antioxidant enzymes. Chaga is also good source of fiber, amino acid, vitamins and minerals.*
