Apple (Malus pumila)  is an edible fruit from the apple tree, said to have originated in Central Asia. A member of the Rose family, apples are believed to be one of the most widely grown and consumed fruits in the world. Different varieties of apples can be tart to mildly sweet to very sweet, and are used in many applications including juices, smoothies, sauces, baked goods and pet foods.
