Guava (Psidium guajava) also known as common guava or lemon guava, is native to Caribbean, Central and South America.
Guava fruits are round, ovoid or pear-shaped and between 2 and 4 inches long. Their unique fragrance is similar to lemon but less sharp.
Low in calories, one guava fruit has 4 times the vitamin C of an orange and 5 grams of dietary fiber, as well as moderate levels of folic acid, lycopene and antioxidants. Other vitamins present include vitamin A, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, thiamin and riboflavin. High levels of phytonutrients help to promote overall health and improve body function.*
