Vegan in Vegas

Vegan in Vegas Banner

With long hours, tight schedules and unfamiliar territory, finding healthy food at trade show locations can be a big ask, especially if you happen to be a herbivore! But with a little local knowledge, delicious, plant based foods are there for the eating, even in glitzy Las Vegas.

With such a focus on health and well-being, it’s hardly surprising to find a large proportion of vegetarians making up the staff in our industry. It’s estimated that 10% of the US population eats a “vegetarian leaning” diet but at NP Nutra®, that number would be well over 50%! One of our favorite trade show rituals is exploring the ever expanding range of veggie/vegan cuisines on offer. Here’s our pick of the best in Las Vegas:

  1. Canyon Ranch Spa and Club, 4th Floor Venetian Hotel
Located handily right inside the Venetian, Canyon serves a range of delicious vegan breakfast and lunch options as well as fresh vegetable juices and smoothies. Try the Breakfast Tofudilla to get a healthy and satisfying breakfast under your belt.

  2. Wynn and Encore Casinos, 3131 Las Vegas Blvd
In 2010 when owner Steve Wynn switched to a vegan diet, every restaurant within the Wynn and Encore chain began to offer a separate, top notch vegan menu. Prices are not for the faint hearted but the quality and range and personal service are very, very good. If you want to get one Vegas buffet in during your trip, this is the place.

  3. Mint Indian Bistro, 730 E Flamingo Rd #9 & 10 www.mintbistro.com
Mint is just a short taxi ride away (1.5 miles) and serves a delicious selection of vegetarian and non vegetarian food from Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan cuisines. There’s a great range of perfectly spiced South Indian cuisine and fresh hot naan, roti and paratha breads. If you’re up for a challenge, try the inferno menu where the dare is to eat curry marinated with the hottest chilli in the world. If you’re successful you’ll end up on the wall of fame. Best of all, it’s open late!

  4. Komol Thai Restaurant, 953 E. Sahara Ave. E-10 www.komolrestaurant.com
Venturing a little further afield (10 min by car), Komol is one of our favorite spots in Las Vegas. Attractive decor, friendly staff and a delicious menu. Try Papaya Pad Thai with green papaya instead of noodles, spring rolls with soy chicken and coconut jackfruit ice cream. Open till 10 pm every night.

  5. Veggie House, 5115 Spring Mountain Rd Unit 203 (at Decatur)
Newly opened in 2012 to rave reviews, Veggie House is at the top of our must try list this year. We’re dying to sample the Chinese vegetarian menu, especially the fried vegan ice cream and lotus root cakes! If you have a sweet tooth, Ronald’s Donuts, just around the corner, serves a mouth-watering selection of vegan donuts with flavors like honey glazed, maple, cinnamon bun, soy cream filled pastry and apple twist. Getting hungry yet?

Other great veggie establishments are Pura Vida Bakery and Bystro (stunning food but only open for breakfast and lunch) and Go Raw Cafe. Did we miss any of your favorite Vegas veg spots? Tell us in the comments section below. Happy eating!
