PEACH

The peach got its scientific name Prunus persica (meaning ‘Persian plum’) from the journey it took from its origin in China, through Persia to Europe. Related to plums, apricots, cherries and almonds, peaches are known as drupes, or stone fruit, because their juicy flesh surrounds a shell that contains an edible seed. Of the hundreds of peach varieties most are either yellow or white, with yellow peaches being the most common. Our peach juice powder is made from white peaches which have a light reddish-yellow skin and flesh that is typically white to light yellow with pink streaks near the pit. Generally considered to be sweeter than yellow peaches because they have a higher sugar content and lower acidity, white peaches are also sometimes described as having a delicate flavor with floral notes.

With an exotic, fruity flavor and being packed with nutrients, peaches are popular in a variety of foods and beverages all around the world.

Peaches contain many antioxidant phytonutrients, including chlorogenic acid, catechins and epicatechins, gallic acid, ellagic acid, rutin, isoquercetin, carotenoids and cyanidin derivatives, as well as vitamins and minerals.
