CALAMANSI
Calamansi (Citrofortunella microcarpa), also known as calamondin or Philippine lime, is a small citrus shrub or tree that grows 6–25’ tall. Native to Southeast Asia, it is now widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions. The tree bears small round fruits 1–1.5 inches in diameter with a thin green to orange rind and sour, aromatic juice.
Calamansi is rich in vitamin C (ascorbic acid), citric acid, and essential oils, primarily D-limonene. It also contains bioactive compounds such as phenolics and flavonoids, which contribute antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.
